Restricted Product Categories


1. Items Prohibited Under Japanese Law (Export Restrictions) The following items are strictly prohibited from being exported out of Japan:

  • Drugs, narcotics, and controlled substances, including but not limited to stimulants, psychotropic drugs, and cannabis-related products.
  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, gunpowder, and weapon parts regulated under Japanese law.
  • Chemical weapon precursors and other hazardous substances subject to export controls.
  • Items designated under Japan's Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act (FEFTA) as export-restricted goods requiring a license.
  • Cultural properties, antiques, or artifacts designated as national treasures or important cultural assets.
  • Counterfeit goods or products that infringe intellectual property rights, including fake branded items.
  • Pornographic content that violates Japanese law. Exporting these items may require a special government license, which Janbox does not assist with. 2. Hazardous Materials and Dangerous Goods The following categories are generally prohibited from international shipping due to carrier safety regulations:
  • Flammable liquids and solids, including alcohol-based perfumes, fuel, solvents, and lighter gas canisters.
  • Compressed gases, including aerosol sprays, spray cans, and gas cylinders.
  • Batteries, especially lithium batteries that are improperly installed or undeclared.
  • Fireworks, explosives, and flammable materials.
  • Corrosive substances such as acids, mercury, and industrial chemicals.
  • Radioactive materials.
  • Magnetic materials that could interfere with aircraft systems. These items are classified as dangerous goods under international air transport regulations and cannot be shipped through standard channels. 3. Restricted Consumer Products Certain consumer products may be restricted or prohibited depending on the destination country's regulations or carrier policy, including:
  • Cosmetics, skincare, and beauty products containing alcohol or controlled ingredients.
  • Food, beverages, and perishable goods, especially meat, dairy, or fresh food.
  • Dietary supplements and health-related products.
  • Medical devices and pharmaceuticals, including prescription drugs.
  • Plants, seeds, soil, and organic materials.
  • Animal-derived products such as ivory, fur, or products made from endangered species. Customers are responsible for verifying whether these items are permitted for import into their own country. 4. Items Prohibited by Carriers or Destination Countries Beyond Japan's export laws, certain items may be prohibited due to carrier restrictions or destination country regulations, including:
  • Cash, currency, and other valuable payment instruments.
  • Precious metals, gemstones, and high-value goods that have not been fully declared.
  • Weapons, including knives, swords, stun guns, and self-defense devices.
  • Gambling-related equipment or items.
  • Items considered offensive, obscene, or illegal in the destination country. Janbox cannot guarantee that an item permitted in Japan will be legally allowed for import into another country.
